i have a problem.
a big problem.
i get food cravings LATE at night. and with me being on a super strict budget AND trying to eat better, i find myself in the grocery store at all hours of the night. even if i wanted to be financially irresponsible and order in, it's almost always too late to do so. not to mention, i tend to prefer my own cooking over take out anyway.
it was friday night. about midnight. i was driving home and had a sudden craving for crab rangoon. of course, my chinese restaurant was not only out of the my way, but had been closed for 2 hours. to the grocery store i go. i get everything i need, get home, open my wine, and realize I FORGOT OIL!!! i then commensed on a mission... i got my damn oil, and made my crab rangoon... and it was amazing. i had to share the recipe. hope you enjoy.
MAKES ABOUT 12
1/3 cup crab meat (i prefer fresh, but most restaurants use imitation)
1/2 block of cream cheese (softened)
1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
2 tablespoons chopped green onion
1.5 tablespoon of sugar *use more or less sugar to your liking
vegetable oil (if frying)
*if baking, grease cookie sheet & preheat oven to 350 degrees
mix all crab meat, cream cheese, soy sauce, green onion, & sugar
place tablespoon of mixture in center of wonton wrapper
use finger to apply egg wash to edges, fold and seal
drop in hot grease for about 1 minute, or in oven until golden brown
