crab rangoon

i have a problem.

a big problem.

i get food cravings LATE at night.  and with me being on a super strict budget AND trying to eat better, i find myself in the grocery store at all hours of the night.  even if i wanted to be financially irresponsible and order in, it's almost always too late to do so.  not to mention, i tend to prefer my own cooking over take out anyway.

it was friday night.  about midnight.  i was driving home and had a sudden craving for crab rangoon.  of course, my chinese restaurant was not only out of the my way, but had been closed for 2 hours.  to the grocery store i go.  i get everything i need, get home, open my wine, and realize I FORGOT OIL!!!  i then commensed on a mission... i got my damn oil, and made my crab rangoon... and it was amazing.  i had to share the recipe.  hope you enjoy.

  • 1/3 cup crab meat (i prefer fresh, but most restaurants use imitation)

  • 1/2 block of cream cheese (softened)

  • 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce

  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onion

  • 1.5 tablespoon of sugar *use more or less sugar to your liking

  • wonton wrappers

  • egg wash

  • vegetable oil (if frying)

*if baking, grease cookie sheet & preheat oven to 350 degrees

  1. mix all crab meat, cream cheese, soy sauce, green onion, & sugar

  2. place tablespoon of mixture in center of wonton wrapper

  3. use finger to apply egg wash to edges, fold and seal

  4. drop in hot grease for about 1 minute, or in oven until golden brown

  5. ENJOY!
